Every Choice has a consequence.....either good or bad...

UnPlanned, the dvd, is a the story of Abby Johnson,  a former Planned Parenthood clinic director - now a pro-life Advocate.  How did this happen?

UnPlanned, the dvd, documents significant events in Abby's life that led her to make choices.  And each of these choices had consequences.

First choice, going to college at 17.  Second, entering into a relationship with a guy 8 years older.  Third, not seeking wise counsel from her parents when she discovered herself pregnant.  Etc. etc. I am not going to lay out all the choices because that would tell the entire story.  But you will see how her life led her to find herself as Director of an abortion clinic.

But this is where every Christian needs to watch this documentary.  Why?  because it shows how you can peacefully and intentionally impact someone/organization through love and prayer.  This documentary shows the faithfulness of Coalition for Life to reach out to the women seeking abortions at Planned Parenthood as well as to Abby.  So much so that when Abby finally reaches the decision to leave, she seeks refuge and help from Coalition for Life.  Now that preaches!

Focus on the Family is hosting a FREE webcast on May 17th at 8:00 pm (CST) featuring Abby Johnson that will benefit pregnancy care organizations.  Click here to register.

Also, Tyndale Publishing sent me a certificate for a FREE copy of the DVD to give away.  So, just leave me a comment between now and May 15 about why you want to see Abby's story and I will draw for the prize next Sunday.  You can use it at Lifeway or Family Christian Stores.

The winner of the FREE copy of the DVD is Beth....Your certificate is in the mail!  ***just so you know, after posting this review, blogger had numerous issues and was down on & off for several days this past week.   Many people emailed me their comments so I used those emailed comments to hold the drawing.

Goodbye Hollywood Nobody by Lisa Sampson

You are going to need a map to follow this plot!

This is the fourth book in a series by Lisa Sampson and it clearly does not stand alone. It is about the querky advertures of Scotty Fitzgerald who desires to live a"Jesusy extraordinary" life. In the midst of trying to find this life, Scotty's journey includes trials of friendship, forgiveness, and faith.

But the struggle I had in reading the book was twofold. First, I had not read the previous books in the series and this author clearly does not give you enough information to surmise what has occurred in the first three books. Many times a character would pop up and I would think "wait, who is this?" Or there would be a reference to someone or an event that you were expected to know for the story to come together. Second, the book is written in a journal format. This format alone is difficult but couple it with my first point and you have a very hard book to read.

This book is written for teens. While I could see some younger teens enjoying Scotty's adventure, I felt like the themes of unwed pregnancy or the friend who needed to keep himself pure were too mature for that younger teen group.

Overall, I would give this book 3 stars.

I would only recommend it IF you were going to read all four books in the series.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review.  As always, my opinions are my own.
